In the jury for REC Internationales junges Filmfestival (competition age 16 to 27)
this year are:
Otto Alder is working as a programme curator and is serving at juries and selection
committees for festivals all over the world. Starting off in animation business organising
Stuttgart Int. Animation Festival (1987 till 1992) he later rendered his services
as the director of the animation programme at the Leipzig Festival (1992 – 2005).
Alder is co-founder and was co-director of Fantoche International Animation Festival
(1994 – 2004). In addition he directed the animation programme at Black Night Film
Festival in Tallinn (1999-2002) as well as the Animation Festival Tough Eye in Turku
(2001-2003). 2009 he was selected Honorary President of the Ottawa International
Besides creating his own films, photographs and installations, in 2002 he began teaching
history of moving images and animation history as professor at the the animation
department of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and was the
departments co-director from 2004 till 2010.
He is member of ASIFA since 1988 (director of board 1993 –1998), Society of Animation
Studies (since 2004) and of Groupement Suisse du Film d’animation (GSFA)
Furthermore Alder is founder and artistic director of Lucerne International Animation
Academy 2009 (LIAA). In 2011 he became member of the Swiss Film Academy and
of APSA (Asia Pacific Screen Academy).
Susanne Foidl (graduate cutter), since 2006 academic staff for the degree program
montage at the film university Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, since 2013 also equal
opportunity commissioner of the school. Before, during and after her studies at the
same university she worked as free-lance cutter. Her focus is the artistic montage.
At the moment working on film as „world-view-machine“ and film as „gender technology“,
always focusing on montage. Her favorite: watching films and talking about
Since working as DoP and documentary filmmaker keeps coming back to the issue of
rememberance and commemoration. Photographed many interviews with Holocaust
survivors in Eastern Europe for the Grimme-award winning documentary „ The Women
of Ravensbrück“. Together with director Julia Oelkers documentaries „Southeast – …
ofcourse we wanted to change the world“ and „It is our history, too – quarter mothers
Stadtteilmütter on the trail of nazism“ and recently the cinema film „Can´t be silent“
Other than that freelancing DoP for several tv channels.
The best documentary film will be awarded by the „International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film“ with the „Docu Clip“
