REC for Youth
Julia Oelkers works for various broadcasting stations and film production companies as a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker. Her work focusses on contemporary historical documentation and portraits. Since the pogrom-style attacks on migrants and asylum seekers in Germany at the beginning of the 1990s, racism, flight, and migration have been recurrent themes in her work. For her work EIGENSINN IM BRUDERLAND about migrants in GDR she received a „Grimme Online Award 2020“
Roxana Richters is a producer at Chromosom Film GmbH in Berlin. Her projects include the tv play STILLE POST by Florian Hoffmann, the German/Polish/Swedish/British co-production THE LECTURE by Kasia Adamik and the feature film EIN SICHERER ORT by Sara Summa. She studied film and theater studies at the FU Berlin and Trinity College Dublin, as well as film production at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin and Columbia University New York. She was a scholarship holder of the Collecting society for film and television producers (VFF) and a participant in the 2019 Berlinale Talents. Before joining Chromosom Film, she worked for the production company Ufa Fiction and the world distributor The Match Factory. In addition to her production work, she has been curating the initiative “Film macht Schule“ together with producer Anna de Paoli since 2018. This initiative aims to communicate film as an art form to young people.
Ralf H. Schlotter
Ralf H. Schlotter was born in Karlsruhe in 1971. After training as a photographer, he studied film and television cinematography at the Academy for Film and Television (Konrad Wolf) in Babelsberg. Since his graduation in 2003 he has been working as a freelance cameraman in the field of feature and documentary films (DRAUSSEN AM SEE, SMARAGDGRÜN). In addition to his work as a cameraman, he is a freelance lecturer in the field of film and media education (M.A Medien & Bildung, 2018). He accompanies young people in the realization of their own film ideas in various workshop formats. In his work with young people, Ralf H. Schlotter attaches great importance to the connection between work on and with media and the associated communication of media content.
Detlef Fluch was born in 1961 and grew up in Buxtehude. While studying journalism at the FU-Berlin, he discovered his love for documentary film, and worked as a tutor for video practice seminars. Since 1989, he’s been doing freelance work in the documentary field as cameraman and editor, mainly for MDR, RBB and Arte productions. His main fields of interest are: contemporary history, migration and psychiatry. His filming take place abroad regularly, including Alaska, Georgia, Guatemala, Israel, Ukraine and Mongolia. Since 1992 Detlef has been working for the „International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film“, at which he is responsible for cinema supervision and moderation. He has been with the REC-Filmfestival since 1992, and was in charge from 2000 to 2019. He also teaches camera and video technology at the Beuth Hochschule Berlin and the Film University Babelsberg.
