The festival is running!

Our festival has been running since Wednesday and despite the current situation, many filmmakers and visitors have made the way to our festival. This allows us to enjoy the incomparable festival atmosphere despite Corona.

In the mornings, the REC for Kids section film screenings for school classes are raunning. At the same time, workshops on green screen, animation and radio can also be attended. At 2 p.m. there will also be workshops for all interested festival participants: yesterday our sponsor Ludwig Kameraverleih offered the “Professional Cine Cam” workshop and a genre writing workshop with Liza Reichardt & Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey will take place today. From 5 p.m. the film screenings of the REC for Youth section will continue (free places still available)!

Tomorrow, on Saturday, after the family program (2 p.m.), of course the big award ceremony (4 p.m.) will take place. We are pleased that there is a lively public interest at the award ceremony. Unfortunately, we can no longer offer tickets for the award ceremony and for the screening afterwards. However, the entire award ceremony can be followed live on our YouTube channel.

You can also get an insight into the festival on Facebook and Instagram.

The festival starts!

The first kids‘ film block K1 has just started and all kids, filmmakers and visitors are watching closely at the screen. By the way, you can watch all films live on our YouTube channel:

The next kids‘ film block K2 continues at 11:30 a.m. and our opening gala will take place this afternoon at 5 p.m.

All information about our festival, you’ll find here: Festival 2020

We also report live from the festival on our social media channels, so take a look!

Only one more sleep…

…and then it finally starts! But we don’t have much time to be excited, because we are busy setting up the ufaFabrik all day so that everything is ready to go tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. the first kids‘ films will be shown on the big screen and at 5 p.m. the 29th REC-Filmfestival Berlin will be officially opened! We are particularly looking forward to the festival dinner with all the filmmakers who will be present after the opening gala!

If you want to stay up to date, it is best to follow us on Instagram or Facebook, where we will give you small insights into our work and the festival.

The countdown has started!

Only seven more days, until the REC Film Festival Berlin 2020 starts! We are in the final stages of preparation and looking forward to see you at our festival soon!

In order to ensure an exciting, varied but above all safe festival this year and to protect you and the entire festival team as well as possible, we ask you to consistently comply with our hygiene rules.

Since only a limited number of people are allowed in the cinema this year, there are fewer tickets available than usual. We therefore ask you to let us know in advance by email, if you want to come to our festival. Tickets can also be bought at the festival, as long as free seats are available. All information about the tickets can be found here: Tickets

We also have great news for everyone who cannot take part in our festival due to Corona: This year’s REC-Filmfestival Berlin will be streamed live! So you can enjoy the program from home. Here you’ll find all information about the stream: Livestream

This year’s festival program and all other information about the festival can be found here: Festival 2020

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via email, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!

Your festival team!

Deadline for submissions 2020 has passed

The deadline for submissions to the REC-Filmfestival Berlin 2020 was 15th of June. Further submissions are no longer possible.

Our preliminary jury will now make the selection for the festival programme from all the films submitted. This selection will be made around the beginning of August 2020.

The REC-Filmfestival Berlin 2020 will take place at the „ufaFabrik“ in Berlin-Tempelhof from 16th to 20th of September. (We will inform you as soon as possible about the required COVID-19 measures at our festival.)

And the winner is… #recathome

Even though it really was a hard decision for us because you submitted so many amazing films to us, the winners of our #recathome competition are ready to be announced:

The golden #recathome clip goes to Ulisses, Günes and Tim Steffen with their film “Distance Warrior”! Congratulations!

And the silver #recathome clip goes to Paulus and the media group Schinew with their film „Hamster„! We congratulate you too!

You can watch both films soon here and in September at our festival. We thank you all very much for your participation and look forward to your submissions for the regular festival program (until June 15th you can still submit for this year’s festival!)

Stay healthy!

We are currently assuming that the REC-Filmfestival Berlin will take place in September 2020. The entire team is doing its best to organize the festival despite the restrictions caused by the Corona pandemic. In addition, we are already considering alternatives, if the restrictions on public life should last longer. Of course we will keep you updated!

However, to fill all this time at home, we came up with a special competition of the REC-Filmfestival Berlin. The #recathome! If you would like to participate, just send us your best “stay at home” film until May 15th, 2020 and win the silver or gold #recathome award including a great surprise. There are no limits to your imagination, however your film must not exceed 90 seconds.

Further information and the conditions of participation can be found here: #recathome

We are looking forward to your film! Stay healthy!

P.S .: The submission deadline for the REC-Filmfestival Berlin is still running until June 15th, 2020.
